Following a busy Regional Finals season National Events Manager for the PGA of Australia, Heath McLeod, is pleased to see a strong, enthusiastic field of participants tee it up on the Sunshine Coast.

“It’s fantastic to see how many clubs, PGA Professionals and amateurs have been involved in local Volkswagen Scramble events across the 2018/19 season and to see how excited our finalists are,” said McLeod.

“The level of competition at each Regional Final was extremely tight so we’re looking forward to three exciting days of golf.

“It’s not just about the golf this week but also about making sure each participant walks away with memories to last a lifetime and the want to come back again and again. It’s all about a fun experience and that’s the atmosphere we’re creating.”

Thanks to the support from the Sunshine Coast Council the Championship Final will return to long-time host the Novotel Twin Waters Resort and Twin Waters Golf Club.  The opportunity to stay and play at such great facilities certainly a highlight for finalists.

Presenting a stunning course year-on-year, Course Superintendent Garry McClymont and General Manager Stephen Hutchison ensure amateurs are able to play in tournament-style conditions in what is undoubtedly a unique experience for finalists.

“It’s fantastic to be back here at Novotel Twin Waters Resort and Twin Waters Golf Club and to have the support of the club and its members,” McLeod added.

“We’re pleased to be able to offer Volkswagen Scramble participants the chance to play on a renowned course such as Twin Waters alongside two of the PGA Tour of Australasia’s top pro golfers.”

Former PGA TOUR player Nick O’Hern and 2017 Fiji International winner Jason Norris, joined by Australian cricketer Dan Christian, will lend their talents to Volkswagen Scramble finalists in the tournament’s final round.

Each teeing it up on one of the par-3 holes at Twin Waters Golf Club, O’Hern, Norris and Christian will assist the top three women’s teams and the top 12 mixed teams in the final with the aim of helping them to victory.
