For Andrew Egea, Wolston Park Golf Club’s Head Professional, his son Taj is definitely a chip off the old block.
Taj, who at 11 years of age holds a handicap of 9, is already tasting success on the course.
Taj and his team made up of John Goldsworthy, Justin Romer and Peter Culnane recently won the Wolston Park Holden Scramble on their second attempt, after entering as a team at an earlier event in the season.
Playing in groups of 8, the team won by half a shot over their player’s partners and will head to the Regional Finals where Andrew will join his son and the rest of the team.
“I’ve played in many Regional Finals over the years. My first was in the inaugural season 26 years ago” said Andrew.
“I have never qualified through to a Championship Final and if I could do this with my son it would be a very special moment.”
“Taj is excited about the Regional Finals and I am sure we are going to enjoy the experience”.
The team will play at the Pacific Harbour Regional Final on 18 March, where they will be vying to be one of the 30 teams nationally to qualify for the Championship Final at Twin Waters Golf Club on the naturally refreshing Sunshine Coast from 18 – 21 May.
