The Holden Scramble Regional Final list of winners is growing with eight more qualifying teams seizing the one spot available at each event for the Championship Final held at the Sunshine Coast, Twin Waters Golf Club.
Pacific Harbour Golf and Country Club kicked off the week starting Sunday 18 March, with Ashgrove Golf Club winning their way through to the Championship Final with a score of 52.7.
PGA Professional, Zac Chipperfield, was adopted into the team and was impressed by how well the team members played.
“Mistakes were rarely made. Everyone held their putts and tee shots when needed, making the day very relaxing and taking the pressure off everyone to perform,” said Chipperfield.
All South Australian Regional Finals were played last week at Mt Compass Golf Course. The winners included Thaxted Park Golf Club and Mt Gambier Golf Club, along with the qualifying Ladies Regional Final team Lucindale Golf Club.
Mt Gambier Head Professional, Craig Davis, is no stranger to the Holden Scramble Championship and is excited to be heading to the Sunshine Coast with the Mt Gambier Golf Club team.
“I’m actually taking my wife and kids up there with me to Twin Waters, making a family holiday out of the Championship. I did my PGA Traineeship at Twins Waters so it will be good to head back up there and catch up with old friends,” said Davis.
Ladies Winners Kew Golf Club, led by PGA Professional Luke Garel, together with Leah Wright, Glenys Cummings, Julianne Stace and Samantha Ansley held off a host of teams to grab the one qualifying spot at the Regional Final, played at Riverside Oaks Golf Club.
This will be Kew’s second team qualifying through to the 2017/18 Holden Scramble Championship Final and Garel is excited to get both teams ready together.
“It’s exciting to have two teams qualifying through this year. I’m extremely proud and looking forward to the final,” said Garel.
“I have planned to run clinics for both teams to ensure everyone’s tools are nice and sharp for the Final.”
Launceston Golf Club has also qualified both a ladies and open team into the Championship Final this year with PGA Professional, Daniel Smith.
The Regional Finals come to a close mid April with the 2017/2018 Holden Scramble winners to be decided from 19-21 May.
