The Volkswagen Scramble is beginning to take shape for the 2018/19 season with a new Naming Rights Sponsor in Volkswagen.
Following the announcement of Volkswagen joining the PGA of Australia as Premier Partner, including sponsorship of the Volkswagen Scramble, golf clubs around the country have been busy locking away their dates.
In its 26th season, the Volkswagen Scramble implemented a new ‘wrap-around’ schedule allowing clubs to take advantage of the warmer weather to host their event.
Off the back of a change to the season dates, Australia’s largest amateur teams golf event enjoyed growth across the board.
When compared to the previous season, the 2017/18 period proved that the change to the dates was a move in the right direction for the popular event series.
The number of events staged increased by 8% and event participants grew a further 10%.
“We had a great response to the new season structure and we are really pleased to see those numbers grow, especially in our overall participation,” said Michael Chard, National Events Manager of the PGA of Australia.
“We look forward to again increasing those numbers in the 2018/19 season and we are well on the way with clubs reaching out to book events following the announcement of Volkswagen as sponsor.”
Already, there are over 290 Volkswagen Scramble events confirmed for the 2018/19 season.
In New South Wales golf clubs have signed up for 104 events, further south in Victoria 73 Scrambles are set while the Sunshine State of Queensland has already got 55 events locked away.
