Cromer Golf Club last week took their Volkswagen Scramble event to a new level thanks to the support of Bill Buckle Volkswagen.

More like to a festival than a typical Scramble event, the Sydney based club went all out to ensure their members and guests enjoyed a memorable day both on the course, and at the 19th hole.

“The club thought we would try something different this season. With Volkswagen on board with the Scramble, we really wanted to refresh the event under a new sponsor and didn’t want to roll out the same program of events,” said Dean Trobbiani, Golf Operations Manager at Cromer Golf Club.

“We changed the event from a Tuesday to a Friday and moved the event into daylight savings so we could have an afternoon tee time, and lead into dinner and entertainment.”

That entertainment included live music and alfresco dining for 108 Scramblers, an increase of 20 from last season, with celebrations going well into the night.

With such a strong representation, Cromer have guaranteed themselves two teams qualifying into the Regional Final in March 2019.

“We really wanted to push this event and ensure we provided variety to our members and it was something unique from our many golf events we run each year.”

The Cromer Golf Club ground staff presented the course in terrific condition allowing Scramblers to take full advantage of the fantastic prizes on offer which were supplied by Callaway Golf for the major prizes and Bill Buckle Volkswagen for a Nearest to the Pin and Long Drive competitions.

Bill Buckle donated additional spot prizes and provided refreshments for every competitor.

But it was the Hole-in-One prize on the 168 metre, 9th hole that drew the most attention with Bill Buckle putting up brand new Volkswagen Arteon for anyone lucky enough to ace the hole, unfortunately there were no golfers driving away in a new car!

“We have already formed a strong relationship with Bill Buckle Volkswagen, and we look forward to working with them in the future to continue to build on our relationship and event concept,” added Trobbiani.

“Jordan Howarth, the Sales Manager at Bill Buckle really drove their activations with his team. They really engaged with our members and have started to build that local community engagement and they stayed well into the night enjoying the event with all the Scramblers which was great to see from a major sponsor.”
