Rossdale Golf Club  Director of Golf, Michael Moore, and Club Captain, David Brown, have left no stone unturned in providing their members, guests and visitors with an ultimate week of golf competition.

A Women’s Open Volkswagen Scramble, a corporate day, and Mixed Invitational Volkswagen Scramble ran back-to-back with support from Brighton Volkswagen has created one of the biggest week’s on the Rossdale Golf Club calendar.

“We’ve been long term supporters of the Volkswagen Scramble, the Ambrose 4 team format is a hit with the locals and with Brighton Volkswagen sponsoring the event it’s really taken it to a new level,” Brown said.

Just thirty minutes from the Melbourne CBD, located in the bayside suburbs of Melbourne, Rossdale Golf Club played host to its first Women’s Open Volkswagen Scramble event for the 2019/20 season.

In a fiercely contested battle, it was a close finish that came down to the tightest of margins.

The winning team, of Michelle Robinson, Jacque Klein, Robyn Charnley and Jennie Howe posted a score of 58.75 to claim victory by a mere 0.25 shots.

Rossdale Director of Golf and PGA Professional Michael Moore will join the team at the Women’s State Final in a bid to win through to the Championship Final on the Sunshine Coast.

Following a fantastic effort runners up Bernadette Tyrell, Cheryl Disher, Julie White and Anne Cash came in with a score of 59.

“It was a perfect spring day, we knew there would be some high scores displayed,” Cash said.

“It was the first time we all played together and to come in at 2^nd place and win prizes for our effort, we’re very happy.”

The following day, Rossdale held their annual Corporate Cup and were then given the task to host their Mixed Invitational Volkswagen Scramble 24 hours later.

With multiple competitions taking place in a short time frame, it was the perfect opportunity for Edwina Torrens, Marketing Manager of Brighton Volkswagen, to support all three events and help make it a successful week of golf.

“We decided that we wanted to create an impact at the club especially as we were there for two Scramble days and the club’s Corporate Cup in the same week,” Torrens said.

“We took eight cars down including two Amaroks, one Polo, one Golf, one Tiguan, one Touareg, a Caddy and one Crafter.

“The signature par-3 9th hole was a great setting for a hole-in-one and nearest the pin prize.

“The hole-in-one prize is ‘Win a Polo Trendline’ and the nearest the pin prize is ‘Win an Amarok V6 for the weekend’.

“I think it’s incredibly important to have an ongoing relationship with a golf club in our local community. The incentive of having a special deal for those who  participate in a Volkswagen Scramble event is a great idea.”

Due to a large playing field the Mixed Invitational was split over morning and afternoon.

The winning team of Peter O’Gorman, Luke Terrell, Sam Anstey and  Jack Hellier came home strong with a string of clutch shots to post a net score of 52.5

“We started off slow, but by the back-nine we were able to turn it on,” Hellier said.

“I was impressed at how many people were able to hit the green on the 9^th hole, although I didn’t hear any cheers for joy for a hole-in-one.

“We’re already looking forward to playing in the regional finals and hopefully we can replicate our good form once more.”
