One of Australian golf’s most iconic venues will once again crown The Scramble champions for 2023 as competition intensifies for spots at the Championship Final.
Host venue for the Championship Final in the early days of The Scramble, Sanctuary Cove Golf and Country Club and the accompanying InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort returned as the home of the Championship Final last year.
With The Scramble season in full swing, over 100 events are still to be held at golf clubs across the country throughout September with Regional Finals and Women’s State Finals to be held throughout October.
There they will vie for the chance to qualify for the Championship Final where they will play four rounds of golf at the acclaimed Palms Course at Sanctuary Cove and stay at the luxurious InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort from December 4-7.
Now in its 31st year, the lure of Sanctuary Cove will prove to be a powerful one throughout the Regional and State Finals in the months ahead.
“Qualifying for The Scramble Championship Final is in many ways the grand prize for everyone who plays The Scramble and there was a genuine sense of excitement returning to Sanctuary Cove last year,” said Louise Meagher, Events Manager for the PGA of Australia.
“The combination of The Palms Golf Course and the world-class accommodation at the InterContinental Resort gave everyone who qualified for the Championship Final a week I am sure they will never forget.”
Sanctuary Cove has a long and storied history within Australian golf, dating all the way back to its star-studded opening in 1988.
The Arnold Palmer-designed Pines Course continues to be regarded as one of the strongest tests in Australia while The Palms Course demands careful shot selection, good course management and brilliant bunker play.
Paul Sanders, Executive General Manager for the Sanctuary Cove Golf and Country Club said “We are very excited to have the PGA and the Scramble Championship Final back at Sanctuary Cove in 2023. The event in 2022 was a great success and we look forward to welcoming back the PGA Professionals and their Club Members for another brilliant event.”
The all-inclusive trip for qualifiers will include four rounds of golf in tournament conditions, event functions, accommodation, and flights, all for the honour to be crowned the 31st Mixed champions and 18th Women’s Only champions.
