The 2015 Holden Season has officially started with 26 Local Events staged across the Nation to date!
Kicking off the season was Peninsula Kingswood Country Golf Club (Kingswood Course) in Victoria, who staged the inaugural event for 2015. With a large field size, everyone braved the Melbourne weather conditions to get the season under way.
Mt Gambier Golf Club lead the way for South Australia, holding their first event for the year on March 8th and attracting 56 players, sending one team through to a Regional Final in October.
In the ‘Sunshine State’, Miriam Vale Golf Club were lucky not to feel the full force of cyclone Marcia, with the local golfing community getting behind the event to register 108 players on the day. The ground staff did a fantastic job to present the course in great condition after the inclement weather leading into the event.
Over in the west, Lakelands Country Club staged their first of three Scrambles, attracting 100 keen golfers and sending the first WA team through to a Regional Final.
Gary Burmester, Head Professional from Mt Warren Golf Club in QLD reports that the Scramblers recorded their lowest score in a Scramble at his club with the winners of his Invitational event recorded a net score of 51 on a Par 72 Course. Gary has been running Scramble’s for as long as he can remember, and this is one of the best scores he has seen yet.
With four Women’s events being held across the country to date, the first four teams have locked their position at their respective Regional Finals. Congratulations to the Ladies from Howlong Country Club, Blackwood Golf Club, Quirindi Golf Club and Lakelands Golf Club.
Local Holden Scramble events will be held across the country until the end of September. Look out for your local event and participate in Australia’s largest Pro-Amateur team event for your chance to progress to the Championship Final at Novotel Twin Waters Resort on the Sunshine Coast, we look forward to seeing you there!
