Team China has taken a clean sweep of the 2015 International Challenge after defeating the Australian Team over 36 holes at the illustrious Beijing Elephant Golf Club.
The 2014 Holden Scramble Championship Final winners travelled to China to represent Australia, along with a further seven PGA Professionals from across the country, to tee it up against the top three teams from China’s respective China Golf Club League.
Commencing with a 4BBB round, Team China finished the day with an early six point lead over the Australian team, and proved to be too strong throughout the final single Stableford round, extending their lead to finish 20 points clear.
“Although the Australian team did not win, all 12 players felt like champions having made it to this competiton and celebrated their achievement with the Chinese team following the event” said Michael Chard, National Events Manager, for the PGA of Australia
“This event is a fantastic way for the PGA to continue to strengthen the existing relationship with the China Golf Association and provides unique playing opportunities for Holden Scramble participants to travel internationally to play in this fantastic event.”
Devonport Golf Club’s Head Professional, Darren Spencer, finished the event as the leading player after carding rounds of 70 and 76 over the challenging course layout.
The overall adventure of the trip will be something that the Australian team will remember for a lifetime, playing a world class golf course and experiencing the Chinese customs and culture. The PGA Events Division would like to thank the Chinense Golf Association for the fantastic hospitality over the course of the event.
