A packed field of 144 players turned out to Hunter Valley Golf Club for their local Scramble event, with a further 16 players on the waitlist! 

The top two teams can now prepare to battle it out at Regional Finals in October. 

Winners on the day were James Haggerty, Brent Duncan, Brendan Aryton, and Simon Moloney,  while the runners up were Marcus Davidson, Mathew Aryton, Riley Jones and Jayden Laugwitz. 

Hunter Valley’s Scramble Coordinator Brent Watson was extremely pleased with the day and is already looking forward to next year. 

“A highlight of the day would be the spirit the game that it was played in,” he said. 

“With a random draw, enabling players from different clubs from across the Hunter and Newcastle region playing together, adding to the competitive spirit of the day that’s already prevalent. 

“This year’s Scramble exceeded expectations again highlighted from the support of the player numbers that were received. 

“We will be looking to run another event next year in hopes its supported from the local golfing community as well as this year and perhaps look at hosting a second event if the demand is there.” 

While the competition is high in the Scramble events, the camaraderie is always a highlight, and Watson says this continued off the course. 

“The clubhouse and proshop was packed with players following the round, all glued to our live leaderboards that were running and updated as teams scores were being uploaded,” he said.
