The Albany Golf Club made history on Sunday the 14th of March with their Volkswagen Scramble event. With the sun shining on a glorious day at the Albany Golf Course, there was certainly something in the air on the Par 3 10th Hole which saw not one but two hole-in-ones.

The picturesque par 3 10th at Albany Golf Course, aptly named ‘The Keyhole’

This is the first time this Volkswagen Scramble season there has been two hole-in-ones in the same event, let alone the exact same hole, only four groups apart.  We’d have to head to the history books but we could go as close to say this is a first ever.

Playing 163m for the men and 142m for the ladies, it was a remarkable effort for both players who navigated the hole magnificently, Max Loveridge with his Hybrid and Cass Porter with her Driver.

Having held Scramble events for over 25 years, Albany GC event is one marked on the calendar early on. This year was no different seeing 144 players taking to the course in a bid to progress through to the Regional Final series.

“Having the Club Match Committee really get behind the event and actively promote through weekly event presentations, website, emails to members makes a big difference and ensures a strong turnout each year.” explained PGA Professional Ian Redmond.
